Chiefs Will Franchise Dwayne Bowe, Says Report

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Kansas City Chiefs will use the franchise tag on WR Dwayne Bowe if the two sides can not reach a deal.

Under the tag, Bowe would receiver a one-year deal worth $9.5 million. He had 81 catches for 1,159 yards and five touchdowns in 2011, despite catching passes from Matt Cassel, Tyler Palko and Kyle Orton.

This is a move we have all been suspecting but with Brandon Carr also set to become a free agent, there was still some question as to whom the team might tag. The signing of Stanford Routt seemed to be “Carr Insurance” if you will, leading most to assume that the tag was coming Bowe’s way.
