Chiefs Confirm Muir’s Retirement

We told you earlier that Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star was reporting Chiefs offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Bill Muir was retiring. Teicher’s report came complete with a quote from Muir so we knew it was only a matter of time before the team confirmed the news.

And now they have.

It should be noted that Muir is leaving the team on very good terms. In fact, in an article on KCChiefs.com, Muir had nothing but kind words about Romeo Crennel and Gm Scott Pioli.

“It has been an honor to be a part of this great league for so long,” Muir said. “Over the years I’ve made a lot of great friends and worked with many talented players and coaches. This was a personal decision for me, the timing was right. The Chiefs are in great hands with Romeo and Scott and I wish them nothing but the best.”

Pioli also has a long history with Muir.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Bill,” said Pioli. “I have worked with him for a long time and have witnessed him develop a number of very good football players. His contributions are very much appreciated and he will be missed. We wish him the best moving forward.”

It is nice to hear Muir praise the organization. There have been plenty of negative reports surrounding the Chiefs and ex-employees recently so Muir’s words are a breath of fresh air.
