Kansas City Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop has gone from the outhouse to the penthouse. The former Mr. Irrelevant has just been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

After three weeks of struggles in which some began to doubt the kicker’s future with the team, Succop rebounded in a big way, nailing five of five FG attempts against the Vikings. Succop was responsible for 15 of KC’s 22 points last week. He also hit two kicks from beyond 50 yards, something he has struggled to do since becoming the Chiefs’ kicker.

The honor will hopefully shore up Succops confidence which appeared to be waning in the season’s first three games. With the KC offense still struggling a bit, having a reliable kicker who can hit from long distance could be invaluable moving forward.

Congrats to Succop.
