Chiefs Worked Out RB Sammy Morris

According to Adam Caplan, the Kansas City Chiefs worked out former New England Patriots RB Sammy Morris this week.

This workout makes sense given the loss of RB Jamaal Charles to a season-ending ACL injury.

We also heard this week that the Chiefs worked out FB Mike Cox, which didn’t make sense for a number of reasons I won’t go into again here.

The Chiefs may not have liked what they saw in Morris as they chose to instead promote WR Jeremy Horne from the practice squad earlier today. That does not mean, however, that the Chiefs might not have Morris on speed dial should another one of their running backs go down to injury.

Morris, a 12-year NFL veteran, was drafted by the Bills and spent the 2007-2010 seasons as a backup in the New England RB rotation.
