Chiefs Continue To Stuggle, Trail Lions 20-3 At Half

The Kansas City Chiefs looked to get their season back on track this week against the Lions.

So much for that.

While the Chiefs looked a little sharper in their running game, a plethora of penalties, poor pass coverage and poor officiating has the Chiefs trailing 20-3 at the half.

Oh yeah, and the Chiefs lost Jamaal Charles to a nasty looking knee injury.

The Chiefs were able to run the ball in the first half but unfortunately, that was all they were able to do. The Chiefs have 115 rushing yards on 17 attempts. They are averaging 6.8 yards per carry on the ground.

Matt Cassel is has completed seven of 10 passes for 93 yards. Unfortunately, two of Cassel’s three incompletions were interceptions. He ended the half by taking a sack on a Hail Mary situation. How that happened I am not sure.

The Chiefs have been penalized six times for 60 yards. They’ve also turned the ball over three times.

The Lions seem content with picking on what is apparently a porous KC secondary. They’ve run only nine times for 25 yards. Unfortunately, the Lions have thrown  for 226 yards in the first half.

If the Chiefs don’t start limiting mistakes, moving the football and defending the pass, it could be another blow out for KC.
