It looks like Scott Pioli is going to use some of that salary cap money after all.

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star is reporting that the Chiefs have agreed to a long-term contract extension with CB Brandon Flowersa. Teicher does not yet know the terms of the deal.

This is good news for Chiefs fans. After last year’s successful season, many wondered if the Chiefs would be able to keep all of their good players. It appears they are taking steps to do so. The team has already locked up ILB Derrick Johnson and RB Jamaal Charles to cap-friendly contracts. They also locked up some dude named Tamba Hali.

Flowers likely did not come cheap as talented CB’s are in high demand. That being said, the Chiefs have more cap space than any team in the league so it is good to see they using it for something.

Next up are Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Carr.
