This is a terrible, terrible mistake by the Chiefs. Smith was a big part of their defensive improvement last year. For them to fail to come to terms on a reasonable deal with him when the have so much money is unconscionable.

Smith later tweeted:

I am kind of speechless. i thought for sure Smith was coming back. I even posted it this morning. Needless to say, that post has been removed.
