Willie Lanier, Willie Roaf To Announce Picks At The NFL Draft

The NFL has announced that retired NFL players will announce picks for their former teams during the second round of the NFL Draft next Friday.

The first round selections are read by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Each NFL team will have a former player announce their pick. The Jets, Panthers and Dolphins do not have second round picks and so their players will announce their third round selections.

Announcing the Chiefs’ second round pick will be former Chiefs great and Hall of Fame MLB, Willie Lanier.

Another former Chief named Willie will also be on hand to announce a pick for the New Orleans Saints. That Willie would be Willie Roaf.

It is hard to think of Roaf as anything but a Chief but he was drafted by the Saints and played in New Orleans for a number of years.

I’ll be on hand for all three days of the draft and you can bet that if I can hunt down Lanier I’ll ask him a few questions, one of which is sure to be for his autograph.
