Arrowhead Adventures! How Far We Have Come!

As I sat there twirling my Hebrew National on a $3.99 hibachi set up, I remember asking my self how long I could do this.

How long I could keep saying “wait until next year”?

How long could I watch $1500 in tickets turn into worthless pieces of paper within a matter of weeks?

How long could I keep asking my Arrowhead Addict family to keep hoping for a day when the Raiders would come to Arrowhead and hear 80,000 screaming fans sway the outcome of a game?

Well as it turned out, not very long…..

For me I think, the turning point was the last Denver game. As it played out on my big screen at home in front of my girlfriend and I, (a bigger sports fan than myself, and yes its awesome) we both felt we knew where things were headed, so we opted out in order to catch the last church service of the day.

I caught the results on my NFL satellite radio setup in my truck, and here we sit today.

Who could have predicted this second week in November? Nobody that I know did. The best estimate I heard from reasonable sources was 8-8, and my heart skipped a beat to think how awesome that would be.

Eight and Eight

Unreal ….

As we sit here today, if we go 8-8 it will be a collapse of monumental proportions. The kind of disaster that makes the NFL Channels top 20 all time people and teams who did this or that flashes across my bedroom TV when I’m brushing my teeth on a weekday morning.

We are 5-3 with the EASIEST SCHEDULE in the NFL left. We made Phillip Rivers, a damn good QB, a QB with balls and nerves of steel shake his head and throw down the ball in frustration during the Monday night game this year.

Matt Cassel is a damn good candidate for a franchise quarterback in good old KC.

We have the best running game in the league. Larry Johnson has no job and is likely looking for someone to slap in a bar far far away from Kansas City.

We have the best defensive and offensive coordinators in the business in my opinion, and besides that bad ass Janikowski I personally consider Succop and Colquitts combined kicking talents to be unmatched in the league.

Our head coach takes responsibility for his actions, instead of making excuses in feeble attempts to hang on to his job.

And then there is my beloved Arrowhead Stadium.

Millions and millions of dollars in upgrades make one of the largest and oldest stadiums in the NFL one of the proudest and best again. I can’t begin to describe it. You just gotta get a ticket and go see for yourself.

Am I disappointed we lost to those freaks in Oakland last Sunday? You bet. But it ain’t gonna kill this Arrowhead Addicts buzz.

We are gonna beat the Donkeys in their own barn next Sunday. And my girl and I are gonna enjoy a great weekend in Kansas City wrapping up with a good old fashioned 80,000 fan Cardinal roast in my favorite place to sit with her in the world.

November 2010 is awesome! And its only gonna get better! Enjoy the ride!
