Chiefs Fall To Bucs 15-10

9:39 PM: Chiefs reserves can’t get it done and fall to the Bucs 15-10.

9:24: Chiefs driving and are inside the 10 at the 2 minute warning.

9:02 PM: The Chiefs had a lead but lost their field position when Javaris Williams failed to catch a pass, knocking it in to the air and in to the hands of a Tampa Bay defender. The Chiefs defense held but Connor Barth managed to boot through a FG and tie the game at 13.

8:32 PM: Tyler Palko leads the Chiefs on a 13 play, 76 yard drive that ended in a Succop FG. The Chiefs lead 13-10. Jackie Battle is doing a fantastic job, with 6 carries for 39 yards.

8:02: Chiefs looked much better on both sides of the ball in the first half. Cassel was sharp in the pocket, going 14 of 19 for 125 yards and a touchdown. His QB rating is 108.4.

On defense the Chiefs looked stouter against the run and other than one bad play by Flowers they did a good job of containing the Bucs attack.

Things will be shaken up in the 2nd half when see of the reserves come in. Cassel’s day is likely over.

8:01: The Chiefs drove down the field on their final drive of the first had and managed to add a FG to tie the game at 10-10. Drive info: 14 plays, 77 yds, 4:45

7:23: Chiefs defense looks stouter against the run but they got beat when Brandon Flowers missed a tackle and gave up a touchdown to Michael Spurlock. The Bucs lead it 10-7.

6:57: Chiefs nation just exhaled as the offense scored their first touchdown of the 2010 season. Matt Cassel led the Chiefs on a beautiful drive that ended in a Jeremy Horne TD catch. The Chiefs lead it 7-3. Drive Info: 8 plays, 47 yds, 4:23

6:48: Bucs get 3 after the Jones fumble. Chiefs D shows nice pressure, stouter run D.

6:44: Chiefs win toss. Move the ball a little but Jones fumbles on a draw. Bucs take over.

6:16 PM: The Chiefs have scratched 4 players for tonight’s game. From KC Chiefs.com:

"Kansas City has scratched four players for tonight’s game against the Buccaneers. QBBrodie Croyle, RB Kestahn Moore, S Jon McGraw and G Darryl Harris will all be held out of action. Moore and Harris did not make the trip to Tampa with the team."

This means that backup QB Tyler Palko and recent acquisition Bill Stull will backup Cassel. It could be an ugly 2nd half…

6:10 PM: The Chiefs will be taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in just under 30 minutes. The weather in Tampa is currently clear. It is 86 degrees but it feels like 97 so all of those hot days in St. Joe’s should pay off for the Chiefs. There is a chance of some isolated thunderstorms that could hit around halftime.
