Chargers Lose 3rd Round Pick To Achilles

facebooktwitterreddit

The San Diego Chargers are not having a good training camp. Kevin Acee of the The San Diego Union-Tribune has tweeted that Chargers 3rd round draft pick, ILB Donald Butler has suffered a torn Achilles.

There seem to be a rash of Achilles Tendon tears this offseason. It seems like almost every day, I hear about another player going down with the season ending injury.

Nearly every night I go to sleep worried that tomorrow might be the day it happens to one of our Chiefs. Could you imagine how deflating it would be to lose Eric Berry, Dexter McCluster or Jamaal Charles? We’ve been lucky so far. Knock on wood.

More after the jump:

As it stands, the Chargers are looking significantly weaker by the day. With the Vincent Jackson, Marcus McNiel and Shawn Merriman holding out and a top 3 draft choice going down to injury, the Chargers almost certainly won’t be 100% come September 13th.Even Tra thomas, the veteran the Chargers picked up to play LT in case McNiel continues his holdout, is out for two weeks recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery.

The thing is, I feel like even with holdouts and injuries the Chargers will be a pretty good football team. I just can’t say the same thing about the Chiefs. KC is simply not deep enough to lose any of their top talent.

Here’s hoping the Chiefs have better luck this season than some of their NFL counterparts.
