My Chief Concerns: Position Battles

by Chiefs

I trust that some of you are die hard Madden Football fans.  I also am sure that of those who claim to be, most of you are of the “”Franchise Mode” type.  So, some of you will remember the “position battles” list of the Franchise Modes’ of recent past.  You recall the part of the game where prior to camp you are given a list of certain positions where players are competing for a starting position.  The game would compare two or three sometimes four closely rated players and usually give slight favoritism to the younger rated player. Well, as you know Madden’s Franchise Mode no longer has that aspect of the game, but it got me to thinking.  What would your position battle list look like?  Here is mine:

 More after the jump:

yeah he won't see much time at RB but who knows if he can block. That's interesting. So you think johnson will earn a starting position this year? I sure hope so. He's talented. That denver game was amazing

how come you didn't put a LOLB competition? And i'm pretty sure battle is a RB not a FB. Vrable has to be in front of studebaker... Both are slow but vrabel knows where to be. Besides that I like it!

Cameron I did not put LOLB becuase Tamba Hali should be the unquestioned man, and yes Battle is an RB but he should be used as an FB imo, since he is big and a better runner than Castille and Cox and he is not likely to get snaps with Jones and Charles and now possibly McCluster in the backfield.

i dont believe berry is in a position battle but i pretty much agree with everything else

Berry is not, Ijust wanted to show that Kendrick Leweis will back up both, if not take Page's job.

Geesh, I am the worst typist in the world! Typos galore!

I agree McCluster needs to be in the KR/PR competition mix!

Great idea Jeremy. Here are my thoughts.

I don;t know if Battle will be a FB...though I would say reverse the order. Castille (Haley guy) Cox, Battle.

I think Chambers is probably better than Bowe at this point but it doesn't really matter who is 1 or 2. Both will be on the field.

Moeaki has to be the favorite but hopefully big Brad Cottam can still develop.

I guarantee you Vrabel is ahead of Studi and Williams is ahead of Mays. Mays was terrible last year.

I would bet McCluster returns punts and Arenas kicks.

Those are my guesses.

Fun idea.

Vrabel is ahead, but I don't think he shoulde be, and if this was Madden they would start him over Vrabel.

I do not like the idea of Mcluster retunring kicks if he is going to be our third WR/third RB. he will get too tired. Give it to arenas. He is the better fit.

Keep up the good work

I know it was a bit of a sore point for some (most) that the Chiefs didn't select a NT in the draft.

Think Smith and/or Edwards can hold it down? I'm guessing the brass must be convinced as free agent / trade buzz has seemingly died right down in KC of late.

Looking at NT you can see we need help. ILB too. thanks Ryan

Very interesting, some aren't battles at all, some of them will be for sure. I like Mike Cox AND Jackie Battle so will be fun to watch that. Thanks for the efforts on this JH.

mike cox is good at cathcing out of the back field, but castille and battle are better runners. Thanks
