The Chiefs new WR. Source: yardbarker.com

The Chiefs have made another free agent pick up. Adam Schefter reported ate last night that the Chiefs added WR Jerheme Urban, who played for Todd Haley in Arizona. From Pro Football Talk:

We’re not really sure why Adam Schefter is up breaking news on his Twitter account at 1:30 A.M. or why we’re up to read it.

But since we’re here and all, we may as well let you know Schefter reports wide receiver Jerheme Urban has signed with his old coach Todd Haley in Kansas City.

Urban caught a career-high 34 passes with Haley as his offensive coordinator in 2008.  The Cardinals didn’t tender the restricted free agent receiver a contract last week.

The Chiefs are very thin at wide receiver, so Urban has a decent chance to make the Week One roster.

While this isn’t an earth shattering pickup, I like it quite a bit. Urban had 34 catches for 448 years and 4 TD’s playing in Haley’s offense. Keep in mind that the 2008 Cardinals offense included Larry Fitgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston. Urban getting 34 catches playing behind 3 guys tells me that he makes the most of his opportunities and most importantly, he catches the ball.

Another nice move to add depth at thin areas. Bobby Wade had better watch his back.

Urban is 29 and played college ball at Trinity in Texas. He is a big WR at 6-3 and has very low tried on his tires. He hardly played before going to Arizona in 2007.

Doesn't have to be fast, if he can catch the ball! Right on

No 1. Dwayne Bowe
No 2. Chris Chambers
No 3. Golden Tate (or other Draft pick)
No 4. Jerheme Urban
No 5. Quinten Lawrwence
No 6. Terrance Copper

Looks good to me.

Mr. Urban can be a solid WR and Special team guy for us for at least the next two years.

This guy is freakin LIGHTNING and has good hands.

I'm off Dez as it looks like o-line or defense. G.Tate is ahead of Dez on some draft boards and is unlikely to fall to us in the second round. With Cottam that makes 3 guys who can catch, not counting the backs. If you are following the logic, now comes o-line in the first round. Which means LB in the second or free agency.

Bobby Wade needs to be history, wasnt impressed with him period. With the second pick in the draft the Chiefs select Golden Tate.

If he can catch the ball, HOT DAMN!!! So we now have 2 WR who can catch, we still need another in the draft.

I like the move even though it stands as yet another example of "inside-the-box" thinking.
