Thomas Jones To Be Released Friday

by Chiefs

From NewYorkJets.com:

The New York Jets announced today that they will release veteran running back Thomas Jones on Friday when the NFL’s free agency period commences.

“We have informed Thomas and his representatives that we will release him on March 5,” general manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement released by the club. “Thomas joined us three years ago and has been a productive, passionate leader both on and off the field who has served as a positive influence for our younger players. We were fortunate to acquire him and we wish him the best.”

Can you feel it, Addicts? Free agency is only days away! Things are about to get seriously interesting. Hopefully.

I agree that we want younger, but we only have so many draft picks this year. Jones would be a stop gap and an excellent complement to Charles' run style. Not to mention a little experience on this very young team is not too bad a thing.

I would rather pass on the over thirty RB's available in FA. Jones is a stud as well as LT, but I like the Sproles idea better and also liked how the AX looked before he was injured early last year. We need youth, not injured and over the hill.

I wouldn't mind getting Thomas Jones to complement Charles. Although, I should say the big backs performed well at the Combine Sunday.
