Chiefs Announce 810 Sports and 101 The Fox Will Join Forces

by Chiefs

Scott Piolio, CEO Mark Donavan and the voice of the Chiefs, Mitch Hothus were on 810 Sports Radio today at 4PM (CST) and announced that Sports Radio 810 and 101 The Fox are combining forces to be the one united voice of the Chiefs.

It appears as 101 The Fox will continue to air the games but all the other pregame and post game stuff, as well as press conferences, will be moved to 810.

Donavan and 810 made a point to assure us that 810 will not stop criticizing the Chiefs. I don’t know…I find it hard to believe that if 810 is joining forces with the Chiefs that there won’t be some pressure on them to turn down the heat a little bit.

Then, immediately following these statements, Mitch went into cheerleader mode, egging the conversation on to how great the Chiefs are. Seriously, at one point when Hothus was talking about the two radio stations, I thought he sounded a little choked up.

I think Mitch Hothus is a stud. After moving to Denver, every time I hear his voice I get extremely nostalgic and realize how 500% more lucky I was to have such an awesome commentator. Commentators in Denver change every 2 years. Mitch has been the commentator since he was shouting out names like DT and Marcus Allen.

Mitch has tenure. I don't think he deserves a lick of criticism.

Favorite sports bar in the universe is the bar in Star Wars.

And as for 810, I think any involvement they may have is great, my favorite sports bar on earth is the 810 ZONE.

AAAh 102, it is indeed toe the line, from the day when British Sailors would line up on the ships deck with their toes on a line.

Boo to the 810 deal. Mitch mentioned that 810 did not do shock jock reporting!! HUH? Did he forget Jack Harry does work for that station. What a shame for the Chiefs

I promise I am not being a smart ass, I might be proven a dumb ass....but isn't it "Toe the line". I really want to know which one?

You lay down with dogs, you get fleas.

Sounds a little like spin control to me. If 810 wants to stay on the Chiefs payroll, they'll tow the line.

Did you notice Pioli said they were trying to work on getting some of their free agents signed. Obviously that isn't big news because they were bound to resign some of them however, if we speculate, we could say he was only talking about the unrestricted free agents.

Which narrows things down a bit.

Yeah when I heard only 810 was covering the "breaking news" I figured it wouldn't be anything real spectacular.
I heard the same thing from Mitch as you Patrick. I assume he was stifling a sneeze or cough as I would sure hope he wasn't that emotional over the news.
I was really surprised that Pioli wouldn't tell KK what they were looking to do with the first round pick. ;-)

They go me all excited for nothing. Radio station merger...wha....hoo...
