It's Time To Get Behind The Chiefs!

AUTHOR: jeremyhanson | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

ArrowheadAddict and its’ commenters have done a lot of criticizing and praising of our team since the end of last season and rightly so. With training camp upon us, I am of the opinion that it is time to forget the past, fully support and get behind the team. There is a tremendous amount of optimism heading into training camp. The players and coaches talk about the change, and we, the fans, now need to embrace it. I am pumped!

Merlin's Magic: Training Camp Preview Edition

AUTHOR: merlin | IN: Features, Merlin's Magic | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

OK Addicts, it’s training camp time. The Chiefs are off to River Falls and it’s time to look at the keys to training camp. What are the important areas to look at this year?
1] Cassel has to be the man. The biggest pile of BS coming out of Pioli/Haley is the idea that there is an open competition for the QB job. It’s Cassel’s, barring something extraordinary happening. Now, he has to grow into being the player others have already anointed him as. This is very similar to the Trent Green situation. You do not give a high draft pick [...]

What About Herm? The Effects Of The Herm Era Linger

AUTHOR: this old chief | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

After three years of suffering through bad coaching and poor game decisions, I finally thought in January we were rid of Herm Edwards. I soon realized that he again landed on his feet with his dialect and coach speech, this time bagging a job at ESPN. Nevertheless, I felt he would be far away on the East Coast — out of sight, out of mind. Wrong!
Last week, I was on vacation in New York. On the way to the airport, guess who made an appearance on ESPN Radio? Yes, the Hermster. Next, while waiting at the airport I was watching [...]

Peterson Vs. Pollard: The Search For A Chiefs Franchise Quarterback

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 22 Comments

We’ve often joked here at Arrowhead Addict that Bernard Pollard did in three years of playing safety what King Carl Peterson couldn’t do in twenty years as a GM — find our Chiefs a young franchise quarterback of the future. All jokes aside, it’s pretty much the truth. That’s the reason I’ve constructed a timeline of all the major quarterback moves by both Peterson and Pollard. It really is a gut-busting experience to compare the two timelines. Enjoy…

Arrowhead Adventures And Section Chief Fun

AUTHOR: Randy5k-Arrowhead Adventurer | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Well, it’s been some weeks since you last heard from me Addicts. My last trip to Arrowhead took me to the draft party and all the adventure that it brings every year.  I made my yearly trek to Augusta for the Masters, and I just returned from Fenway and watching the surprisingly close KC – Boston game that Saturday.  Attending a game at Fenway is always interesting, attending with a KC Royals hat and Don Larson jersey makes it that much more adventurous,  needless to say I made it back alive.
Some exciting news I wanted to bring to the site [...]

Brown Over Pollard = Good News For The Chiefs? Um…

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 17 Comments

If it’s not Whitlock, then it’s mofo Teicher. This mindjob is now suggesting that our best young defensive player getting beaten out for a starting spot by an aging, possibly even washed-up, vet would be “good news.” From The Kansas City Star:
4. Color them Brown
It’s a good sign if veteran strong safety Mike Brown wins a starting job ahead of Bernard Pollard. It means the 31-year-old Brown can still make game-turning plays that he did for so many years with Chicago. Other than free safety Jarrad Page, who has shown the knack for making the big play at the right [...]

Hilarious Erin Andrews/Jason Whitlock FOX Sports Image

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

To absolutely nobody’s surprise, the nothing-if-not-opportunistic, part-time Chiefs columnist Jason Whitlock has used the Erin Andrews peephole scandal as an opportunity to dogpile on Deadspin and the sports blogosphere. That’s interesting and all, I suppose, but it’s kind of old news for Big Sexy. He’s been there, done that.
The real story here is that ridiculous image of Andrews and Whitlock. If it was a slab of ribs instead of Andrews, there would be no peeping. He’d bust down the door like Carlito trying to get to an undressing Gail. You know it. I know it. Jason knows it. We all [...]

Pitchforks And Torches?

AUTHOR: Double D | IN: AFC West, Make it a Double | COMMENTS: 18 Comments

Or should I make that Tomahawks and Flaming Arrows?
Today I ponder the notion of whether where a team owner happens to live has anything to do whether or not that team is successful.  So everybody is clear on this, I do not know the answer to that question and I do not have anything more than anecdotal evidence to contribute to the discussion. More importantly, I am not coming at this with any axe to grind against the Chiefs current ownership.
Consider the following:
The Patriots are owned by Bob Kraft, native of Brookline, Mass.
For generations, the Steelers have been owned by Pittsburg denizens, the Rooneys.
The Packers are owned by their fans.
Since Jerry Jones acquired the Cowboys, I think it’s fair [...]
