It’s not everyday that you get to write about your boyhood idol being elected into the Hall of Fame. But that’s exactly what I get to do today. I’ve been running around my pad, doing the tomahawk chant and chop all day long. It should have never, ever taken this long, but now the best pure speed pass-rusher to every lace ‘em up is getting his bust in Canton.
I’m not going to write about the stats. Anybody can do that and everybody will. Derrick Thomas was my hero — I owe him more than that. Besides, his stats only tell [...]

Update (5 PM CT): Anyone who would like to submit a post sharing their Derrick Thomas memories, please send it to arrowheadaddict@gmail.com and I will feature it on the site.
Choked up and misty eyed as I write this, it’s my pleasure to break the news to you that the late, great Derrick Thomas — Kansas City Chiefs great, winner of our COAT tourney and the greatest pass-rusher to ever live — has just made the Pro Football Hall of Fame. All three of us Best boys are going to Canton — are you? D.T. was one of my boyhood heroes, [...]
King Carl could never find a young franchise quarterback for the Chiefs during his 20-year tenure. Maybe he should have used Google Earth?
If Swiss Police can find a field full of Mary Jane on GE, maybe it’s the way to go. Do you think the Swiss Police could use it to find us a pass-rushing right defensive end? That’s it; I’m getting on the phone with the folks in Zurich right now. If that fails, I’m setting up my own reality show called, We’ve Got No Sacks. Michael Irvin ain’t got Jack on AA.
By the way, if you haven’t checked [...]
Still haven’t decided which team to pull for this Sunday? Hmmmm…maybe I can help? Today over on FOX Sports, I challenged a Cardinals fan and a Steelers fan to make their case. Here’s a little taste of each column:
Convince us: Cards blogger makes his case
Adam: I’m flip-flopping on this one. Call me Adrian Wilson, because I’m all over the place. As my father’s son, I detest Bill Bidwill down to his rotten core. I think he embodies everything that’s wrong with pro sports. For that reason alone I want the Cardinals to lose. As a Chiefs fan, I know what [...]
AADQ: Chan Gailey? Seriously?
What the hell has Chiefs nation been smoking? Chan Gailey as our head coach? Other than one year at Troy, he has been Mr. Mediocre at every stop. The crazy thing is that people are questioning Todd Haley in the same breath they are championing Gailey — that’s just nuts!
As an offensive coordinator in 2008, Gailey won one game with his “vaunted” Arrowspread and two all year. As an offensive coordinator in 2008, Todd Haley’s offense willed the Cardinals into the Super Bowl. Gailey has been sought after by gridiron goons like Herm Edwards and Jerry Jones. Todd Haley has [...]
Scott Pioli: Master Drafter?
There seems to be a popular belief that Scott Pioli ranks at or somewhere near the top among NFL talent gurus – which seemingly includes an uncanny ability to find hidden talent deep in the draft. Surely one need look no further than Matt Cassell for proof of that, right?
Well, thought I, before I start using that perception as a basis for predicting an emergent Chiefs dynasty and the concomitant doom of the league’s residuum, I thought it probably best to arm myself with a few facts on the subject – you know, the kind of stuff that serves to blow away any and all skeptics. One never knows where or when this [...]
AADQ: If McNabb Wants Out…
Would you have any interest in him? I would. He took the Eagles to five more conference championships than the Chiefs went to during this past decade. He also played some of his best football ever during the second half of this season. Remember, he went to the Super Bowl the year he had a Pro Bowl-caliber target in Terrell Owens. This guy would tear it up with Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzalez. We’re talking career years for all three. Then if Michael Crabtree got drafted by the Chiefs — the rest of the league wouldn’t even want to see [...]
Offense is fun to watch. To win, defense carries the day. We can all place our bets wherever we want. I am going to place mine on the side that shows consistent winning, the defense. – Merlin, aka Daddy Defense.
That quote provoked me to do some extensive research of my own over at Pro Football Reference. I looked up both the defensive and offensive scoring rankings of every single Super Bowl team since 1970, since that is when the Chiefs’ Super Bowl drought began. Why did I look up both the Super Bowl winners and losers? Because, let’s face it, [...]
