Culpepper is a Raider

AUTHOR: Blog Z | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

All the big boys are reporting that Al Davis has signed Daunte Culpepper to a one-year deal. I love this because I thought the Raiders should have originally drafted Calvin Johnson and then sign Daunte. Congrats Al!

ESPN:

Culpepper, 30, worked out in the afternoon before a gathering of Raiders scouts and coaches. The workout was private and Culpepper left without speaking to reporters, but Raiders coach Lane Kiffin announced the signing shortly after the Raiders completed practice.

Silver and Black:

“We think that he adds definite competition to a position right now where we basically only had two guys here with [...]

Who is… TE Keith Willis?

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Who is TE Keith Willis?
That’s a great question right about now, because Jason Dunn apparently heals about as quickly as Grant Hill, and it is looking more and more likely that Kris Wilson will be our starting fullback.
Willis is a young tight end out of Virginia Tech that has bounced around the NFL quite a bit. That, however, does not mean that he’s untalented. In fact, with Dunn out he’s been playing with the starters whenever the offense uses two tight end sets. Why? In addition to being an adaquete pass catcher, it seems that Willis is a Jason Dunn-in-training [...]

Dwayne Bowe Finally Signs With Chiefs

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

610 Sports is reporting that first-round pick Dwayne Bowe has finally signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. We’ll keep you posted with details as we get them. Hopefully, this is true, as we’ve heard in the past few days that D-Bo and his agents were waiting for Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell to sign first. 610 also reported that Bowe should be at camp tomorrow.
02:32:17 Update – Bowe hasn’t signed, as negotiations have hit a snag. Head on over to Warpaint Illustrated for a great write up.

Training Camp Rundown: Days Four and Five

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The first thing that comes to mind is that Bernard Pollard is really putting on a show out there. Yesterday he apparently had a crazy pick-six where he jumped up, tipped the ball, came down with it and took it to the house. Considering the way he hits and tackles, his play in pass coverage is very encouraging. I’m starting to think that Pollard could end up a Pro Bowler, maybe even soon. He’s gotta be the star of camp thus far. Legend… in… the… making — order your No. 49 jerseys now!
After Pollard, rookie Turk McBride has been probably [...]

Training Camp: AFC West Outlook

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Here is how I’m calling the AFC West division as of right now:

San Diego Chargers

Kansas City Chiefs
Denver Broncos

Oakland Raiders

I know my rankings probably shock some of you a bit, but that’s just the way I’m seeing it. I honestly think that — barring that Dwayne Bowe and Larry Johnson both sign — we had the best offseason in the division.
The Raiders obviously had a great offseason as well. JaMarcus Russell could be a better Daunte Culpepper, and the Raidahs’ backfield is strong now with FB Justin Griffith leading the way for a trio of adequate backs — Dominic Rhodes, Justin [...]

Training Camp Rundown: Opening Weekend

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: None Yet

The K.C. Star’s Adam Teicher brought up an interesting point in his latest vlog: If neither L.J. or Priest suites up for the Chiefs this upcoming season, could rookie RB Kolby Smith be our leading rusher? It seems the coaching staff and front office believe so.

Bernard Pollard has been a force thus far, both against the pass and the run. Up to this point, he may be the star of training camp. I think it’s just about time for me to order my No. 49 jersey.

Turk McBride was nearly unblockable during one-on-one drills against offensive lineman. These drills are considered [...]

Weekend Quotes

AUTHOR: Blog Z | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Here is something I actually agree with Whitlock on:

There’s no real reason to mention that Kansas City’s first-round pick, Dwayne Bowe, isn’t in training camp. Contract disputes with draft picks are a Chiefs tradition, right along with first-round playoff losses and tailgating.

Eddie Kennison on Priest Holmes:

“I’m not surprised,” receiver Eddie Kennison said. “Priest’s contract was never up. If he shows up, great. I’d love to see him.”

Michael Bennett on Priest Holmes coming to camp: (I would get an autograph too)
“As soon as I see him, I’m going to have him sign it,” Bennett said. “Everyone here is excited. We’re [...]
