As the Kansas City Chiefs turn their attention to a Week 7 showdown with the Seattle Seahawks, they have a new concern to add to their list ahead of the matchup. The Seahawks have activated running back Zach Charbonnet off the PUP list and he'll give Seattle a much-needed boost in the backfield.
The Seahawks have struggled to run the ball so far this season, and when seeing what they've been going through, it's not hard to see why. Charbonnet tore his ACL during their divisional-round game back in January, and Kenneth Walker obviously went on to sign with the Chiefs. Rookie Jadarian Price landed on IR early in the season, so it's been slim pickings for the Seahawks at running back.
Seahawks have struggled to run the ball early in the season
Just how bad have the Seahawks' running backs been so far this season? Check out this stat from Doug Clawson below that spells out just how brutal it's been for Seattle's run game.
The Chiefs rank 1st in EPA/rush (0.11) this season and the Seahawks rank last (-0.24)

For those who might not know, EPA stands for Expected Points Added. It measures how much a play increases or decreases a team's expected points. A positive EPA means the play helped the offense, while a negative EPA means it hurt.
This stat paints a pretty picture for the Chiefs, who have benefited greatly from adding Walker in free agency. He's helped them score a lot of points, and Chiefs Kingdom has loved every bit of the Walker era in Kansas City so far.
Meanwhile, it's not a pretty picture for the Seahawks, who not only watched Walker leave but have also had a miserable time trying to fix their run game. Charbonnet's absence surely played into that, and we'll see how the unit responds in its first game with him back in the fold.
Charbonnet might be back but Chiefs should still be okay
The good news is that the Chiefs' run defense has actually been quite good so far this season, ranking sixth in the NFL with just 88.8 rushing yards allowed per game. This game will come on the road in a tough environment, though, and Charbonnet is far better than the rest of the options on Seattle's roster, so there is a chance that Seattle can turn the tide a little bit this week. He led their team in touchdowns a season ago with 12, so he's no stranger to punching the ball into the end zone.
Charbonnet's return is certainly noteworthy, as it gives a struggling Seahawks rushing attack the firepower they've been lacking. At the same time, the Chiefs have held their own in stopping the run, and it's reassuring to see how lackluster that group has been for the Seahawks thus far.
Still, the Seahawks are a much better team today than they were yesterday with this news. Hopefully, the Chiefs' defense is up to the task and can ensure that the Seahawks' run game remains irrelevant.
