For the seventh straight year, the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing in the AFC Championship with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. For the sixth time in seven years, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium will be the host of the AFC title game. It's been a wild time for Chiefs fans, to say the least.
For the second time during Kansas City's AFC title runs, the Buffalo Bills will be the opponent. The last time these two met up in the AFC Championship Game was during the 2020 season when the Chiefs went on win the game in blowout fashion to return to their second straight Super Bowl (which unfortunately, they went on to get blown out in themselves).
The Bills haven't lived up to the hype in past playoff runs but this year's team appears to be different and up to the task of dethroning the Chiefs. Let's discuss the announcers and referees ahead of the big game.
Announcers for Chiefs vs. Bills
- Lead Play-by-Play Announcer: Jim Nantz
- Color Commentator: Tony Romo
- Sideline Reporter: Tracy Wolfson
With this game being on CBS, it'll be the top crew from the network calling the AFC title game. This shouldn't come as a surprise for Chiefs fans considering how many times this team has been to the AFC Championship Game in recent years.
Referees for Chiefs vs. Bills
Head Referee: Clete Blakeman
The "Chiefs pay the refs" crowd will love that Clete Blakeman is the head referee for Sunday's game considering that K.C. is 3-4 in Blakeman's games over the past five years. The Bills have fared much better when Blakeman is throwing the flags (and he tends to throw a lot of them), sitting with a 5-2 record. Blakeman has not called a Chiefs game this season and called one Bills game, which they won.
