It's no fun in the back of the line.
Of course, everyone in Chiefs Kingdom would make the trade every time: to be forced to stand in the back behind everybody else—er, every other NFL franchise in this analogy—while waiting for one college prospect after another to be taken in what is known as the NFL's annual first-year player draft. The trade-off, of course, is to be Super Bowl victors, and every one of those teams choosing before K.C. would love to trade places.
Still, it's no fun once April rolls around to see the best players available in a given draft class long gone by the time your favorite team—in this instance, the Kansas City Chiefs—is on the clock. Lately, it's what has led to some questionable selections as the Chiefs reach for some players who are more raw in order to find potential impact at key positions.
The Chiefs are still hoping that Felix Anudike-Uzomah can generate a greater pass rush in the second half of his rookie contract. They're crossing their fingers that Kingsley Suamataia can grow from this redshirt season. This year, they're likely going to pick at or near the bottom once again, which will mean another solid starter as a less-important role or a flyer based on potential at perhaps corner or edge, or wideout.
So where exactly will the Chiefs be picking? No one can tell just yet but we can discern what the order would be at this stage as the NFL moves into Week 15.
