We'll see a new-look offensive line when the Kansas City Chiefs begin their 2025 season, as Joe Thuney is no longer going to be on the roster. The trade might have surprised some people but Thuney will turn 33 during the 2025 season and needed a new deal to get done this offseason if Kansas City wanted to keep him.

That being said, Thuney's departure will leave a big hole at the left guard position. It's been reported that last year's second-round pick Kingsley Suamataia will get a shot to prove himself at left guard but what does the rest of the Chiefs' OL look like with Thuney now off to the Windy City?

Post-Joe Thuney trade updated Chiefs' OL depth chart

Projected starting o-line: Wanya Morris, Kingsley Suamataia, Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith, Jawaan Taylor

This is not going to be the offensive line we see in Week 1 of the 2025 regular season but with the players we know of on the roster right now, this is probably the best group. Wanya Morris is likely not going to be the starting left tackle but one would have to think that Veach has something planned for the position. Otherwise, it's doubtful he makes this trade and has two question marks on the left side of the line.

Suamataia has already been linked to getting a shot at left guard and the Chiefs must have liked what he did in Week 18 against the Broncos if they were willing to send Thuney away. Humphrey will continue to snap the ball at center and Smith, shockingly, is going to stay around. That's good news for the Chiefs but it does feel like his looming contract extension helped seal Thuney's trade fate.

... and then at right tackle, there's Taylor. Say what you want about Taylor but he's going to be the starting right tackle for the Chiefs this year.

O-line depth: Ethan Driskell, C.J. Hanson, Jason Godrick, McKade Mettauer, Hunter Nourzad

This isn't exactly the group of names you want to see to step into action should anything happen to the starters but fear not, Chiefs Kingdom, the draft is still approaching. That'll be where Kansas City adds more names to the offensive line for the upcoming season.

As for these players listed, Nourzad was a fifth-round pick in last year's draft and Hanson was a seventh-round pick out of Holy Cross. Neither player was expected to do much as rookies and that ended up being the case. Nourzad will likely have a shot at winning the left guard job against Suamataia in a battle between the 2024 draft picks.

The Chiefs have some work to do in revamping their offensive line now that Thuney is gone and they'll have free agency and the draft to do just that. We'll have to see how everything works out for them.
