The NFL offseason is officially here. Now that the confetti surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles on the field at the Caesar's Superdome for their impressive victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, the final two NFL franchises left standing can both turn their attention to the 2025 season. Of course, Philly will take a few more days to celebrate.
For the Chiefs, the looming offseason brings several key questions to the present. General manager Brett Veach and his staff must figure out what to do on a number of fronts. Offensive line questions dominate the concerns of most fans after SBLIX, but there are other pressing issues as well. How can the Chiefs manage to improve a roster in the face of significant cap issues?
The Chiefs could potentially lose Nick Bolton in the heart of the defense and the Pro Bowl-level presence of Trey Smith along the offensive front. Given the issues at tackle, that only adds further concern to the blockers up front for Patrick Mahomes. The backfield needs attention. The secondary has loads of players in their contract seasons. And wideout remains thin in 2025.
Plus there's that whole Travis Kelce question.
What will the Chiefs do? At least we know now the official draft order so we can start to sort this out with our mock drafts and wishful thinking. And at least the Chiefs get to pick before the Eagles—that's at least something, right?
