The chaos of the NFL offseason has begun for the Kansas City Chiefs, but it's starting much earlier this year thanks to an underwhelming 2025 regular season. The Chiefs have a lot of holes to fill this offseason and wide receiver is definitely one of those holes needing to be filled.

A name that will be attached to the Chiefs until... well, until he ends up wherever he ends up... is Tyreek Hill. The Chiefs previously drafted Hill in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and he became their number one wide receiver and a bonafide superstar in their offense.

In 2022, however, the Chiefs traded Hill to the Miami Dolphins, where Hill remains to this day. It's been pretty up and down for Hill in Miami but a lot of the downs have happened in the past year. After putting together two electric seasons for the Dolphins in 2022 and 2023, the team hit a wall in 2024 and failed to make the playoffs. Hill didn't take it well.

In 2025, Hill played in just four games before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He's been anything but quiet since the injury and he's up to his old tricks again, tweeting about how he's wanting to go home, whatever that means. He capped this particular post off with an emoji donning sunglasses.

"Since we putting in request I want to go home"

Tyreek Hill’s latest message has Chiefs fans talking again

The easy interpretation here is that Hill wants to return to the city where he began his NFL career, which is Kansas City. The Chiefs could use a wide receiver for their offense after the trio of Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy didn't pan out the way the team was hoping. The problem here is that Hill's contract makes a trade tricky and the Chiefs aren't exactly swimming in enough dough to make it happen.

Throw in that Hill turns 32 in March and that he's coming off a season-ending knee injury and that's not something the Chiefs should seriously entertain. Now, if Hill gets released by the Dolphins and they're willing to eat some of that cap space, that's a different story. Hill might not be the same player he once was but his previous chemistry with Patrick Mahomes is something that could be useful for an offense trying to find a new identity in 2026.

Who knows though? Maybe Hill isn't talking about linking back up with the Chiefs and is just up to his old tricks again. Maybe he wants to go back to his hometown and join the Falcons. It's anyone's guess at this point.
