The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of Super Bowl preparation, which means media blitzes are on from the city of New Orleans. On Monday night, tight end Travis Kelce was asked several questions and one of them broached the subject of his future.

Kelce's clearly in the twilight of a Hall of Fame career, one in which he established new heights (pun intended) for what someone in his position can achieve in terms of overall production. This year has brought his potential retirement into view given his accomplishments and interests off of the field and the fact that he only has one year remaining on his contract.

Of course, the Chiefs would be happy to have Kelce around for as long as he'd like to play, and given the way he still draws defensive attention, that could be a while. Then again, Kelce's larger-than-life persona is leading to some great opportunities in Hollywood and beyond, so it's hard to tell where his passions might take him.

"Where will I be in three years? Oh, man. Hopefully still playing football," said Kelce during Super Bowl Media Night. "I love doing this. I love coming in to work every day. I still feel like I’ve still got a lot of good football left in me, but we’ll see.

"I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life and that’s always been the goal knowing that football only lasts for so long. You gotta find a way to get into another career, another profession. I’ve been doing that in my offseasons, but for the most part, I plan on being a Kansas City Chief and playing football. "

Earlier this year, Stephen A. Smith interviewed Kelce about this subject and the Chiefs tight end opened up a bit more about the way his game has changed over time and what it means to face the end of one's effectiveness. At that point, he admitted he'd need to evaluate after the season.

At this point, the one thing that's clear is that Kelce is going to enjoy the moment he's in and that he still loves football. The offseason will bring clarity in time, but for now, Chiefs Kingdom should enjoy seeing Kelce as much as they can. And who knows? Maybe he'll still be around for three more seasons.
