Before Super Bowl 59 between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, one of the main talking points was how Patrick Mahomes' team might be a little more favored by the officials when compared to Jalen Hurts' bunch. On the first drive of the fame, half of the state of Pennsylvania exploded in a ridiculous fervor.

With the Eagles going for it on fourth down on the opening drive of the game, Hurts found his main man in AJ Brown on what was a beautiful deep ball down the sideline. The 4th-and-2 conversion set the Eagles up well inside Chiefs territory, only for the resulting flag to nullify that.

Brown was called for an offensive pass interference call that negated the catch, forcing the Eagles to punt. The referees have sadly become a talking point in this game, and those who don't like how many calls seem to end up helping out Kansas City are already screaming at their couch at the injustice of it all.

Chiefs helped by refs on controversial AJ Brown pass interference call

While there was some slight hand-fighting, including Brown's hand grazing McDuffie's facemask, it seemed like a very borderline call. Those who believe the Chiefs are always on the receiving end of some beneficial calls are likely going to be even more emboldened by outrageous calls like this.

Stephen A. Smith was one of many vocal media personalities who voiced their displeasure with this call. Even Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce's brother, couldn't waive the pom-poms for his brother's team. Both want the game to be decided by the players on the field, which is the right mindset.

Unfortunately, Kansas City wasn't able to get any points out of this drive, as Mahomes and company had punt it away after just one first down. Both defenses are starting to flex their muscles early in this contest.
