These five 2026 opponents are still searching for their first win over Patrick Mahomes

The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes have accomplished so much in most of the last nine seasons. In 2026, the Kansas City passer has a chance to add to his already impressive early domination against specific opponents.

Patrick Mahomes has already accomplished so much in his career. From winning championships to placing himself in the NFL record books, the Kansas City Chiefs' signal-caller has achieved more than any other current quarterback.

And even with plenty of dominance already to his name, his chances to torment opponents will not stop in 2026. Mahomes is currently unbeaten against 13 different NFL teams, including the playoffs. That list includes the Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Other NFC teams, such as the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and Washington Commanders, are also part of that group.

The other five teams Mahomes is unbeaten against are on the Chiefs' 2026 schedule. He and Kansas City will face the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, and San Francisco 49ers over the next few months.

Can Mahomes stay perfect against these five teams? Let's look back at some of the highlights from those previous victories.

Mahomes against the 49ers

The Chiefs and Mahomes will host the 49ers in Week 16 this season, two days after Christmas. By then, both teams expect to be in the thick of the playoff race once again.

Of course, we had to look back at Mahomes' outings against the 49ers first. Two of his three Super Bowl wins have come over San Francisco. The first secured the Chiefs' first championship in 50 years after decades of irrelevance and heartbreak. Four years later, Mahomes helped elevate the Chiefs into dynasty status, becoming the first team in roughly 20 years to win back-to-back Super Bowls.

Other regular-season highlights include Mahomes running over a 49ers safety. His other memorable scramble in San Francisco was both cunning and comical, replayed repeatedly throughout the following week.

Mahomes is a combined 5-0 against the 49ers in his career. Across those games, he has averaged 302 passing yards while throwing 10 touchdown passes and six interceptions.

Mahomes against the Dolphins

Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Miami Dolphins early this season. Kansas City's first road game of the year comes in Week 3 with a trip to South Florida. He will look to improve to 4-0 all-time against the Dolphins.

Mahomes has faced the Dolphins in three different locations. He has played once in Miami and once in Germany in an international game. The only time he has faced them at Arrowhead Stadium came in a frigid playoff matchup.

Mahomes' legs, along with his connection with Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce, were paramount in that playoff victory. His helmet cracking in the freezing temperatures remains one of the most memorable moments from that game. In the 2020 meeting in Miami, he connected on a deep touchdown strike and another scoring pass while rolling to his right.

Mahomes has averaged 280 passing yards in his career against the Dolphins. He has thrown five touchdown passes and three interceptions. All three interceptions came in the 2020 game in Miami.

Mahomes against the Jets

Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Jets at the midway point of the season. New York visits Kansas City in Week 9. Mahomes is 2-0 against the Jets.

Those two meetings could not have been more different. The Chiefs cruised to a 35-9 win over the Jets at Arrowhead Stadium in 2020. But in 2023, Kansas City narrowly escaped with a 23-20 victory at MetLife Stadium after a back-and-forth battle.

Mahomes used his legs to help seal the win in 2023. In the 2020 matchup, he threw five touchdown passes, four of which traveled at least 26 yards. Tyreek Hill caught two of those touchdowns.

Mahomes has averaged 309.5 passing yards against the Jets. He has thrown 6 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions.

Mahomes against the Falcons

The week after hosting the Jets, Mahomes and the Chiefs will travel to Atlanta in mid-November. His record currently stands at 2-0 against the Falcons.

Neither meeting with Atlanta was especially clean for Kansas City. The Chiefs won by five points in one meeting and by three in the other. A late touchdown pass to Demarcus Robinson with just under two minutes remaining gave Mahomes a comeback victory in 2020. Then, in 2024, Rashee Rice had a monster game, finishing with 110 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Mahomes has averaged 247.5 passing yards in his two meetings with Atlanta. He has thrown four touchdown passes and two interceptions.

Mahomes against the Cardinals

Right after facing the Falcons, the Chiefs will host the Cardinals in Week 11, just before Thanksgiving. Mahomes is 2-0 against Arizona.

His best moments against the Cardinals are likely ones only Chiefs fans will remember by digging through old highlight reels. Mahomes set a new franchise single-season record for passing touchdowns while facing Arizona in 2018. He would go on to throw 50 touchdown passes that season.

Then, in Week 1 of the 2022 season, Mahomes and the Chiefs opened the year with a 44-point outburst against the Cardinals. He had just nine incompletions and threw five touchdown passes. Travis Kelce, Jody Fortson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Mecole Hardman all found the end zone that day.

Mahomes has averaged 304.5 passing yards in his two games against Arizona. He has thrown seven touchdown passes without an interception against the Cardinals.
