Tershawn Wharton rescues young Chiefs fan from falling from stands in Carolina
By Matt Conner
A young Kansas City Chiefs fan made the trip to Carolina to be on hand to watch his favorite team play the Panthers at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday. The good news is that he got to watch the Chiefs eke out a road win to go to 10-1 on the season after a close 30-27 victory.
When trying to make his day even better by getting up close and personal with some Chiefs players, his energy to make it happen became a bit too much. In fact, you could say the kid went overboard.
Check out what happened in the stands in the video below:
Yeah, that's a young Nick Bolton fan trying his best to get the attention of and perhaps an actual high-five from a Chiefs player. Somehow an usher or guardrail or something didn't do its job and the boy ends up going over the side head-first.
The good news is that Tershawn Wharton was there right on time, coming into the tunnel to head back to the locker room. Wharton ended up helping to catch the kid and sent him right back up into the stands where we assume his parents or guardians were waiting.
For a guy known for plugging in gaps, Wharton also plugged another one where the kid's protector should have been. Hats off to Turk Wharton for doing the job on the field and even when coming off of it.
