As the Philadelphia Eagles get back to practice ahead of next week's Super Bowl matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, they're facing a few question marks in terms of injuries that will be important to monitor heading into the big game. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith is one such concern.

Smith’s continued absence from practice on Thursday due to a hamstring injury makes it the second straight day he'll be DNP on the official injury report, per The Athletic's Brooks Kubena.

Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky for wide receivers, the sort of issue that can linger for some time or recur if not allowed to fully heal. Even if Smith is able to suit up for the game, his effectiveness could be severely limited if the injury continues to be a problem.

Smith is a crucial component of the Eagles' passing attack with 68 catches for 833 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2024 through 13 games. He has 4,011 receiving yards over the last four seasons with 27 touchdowns, and Chiefs fans will remember his impact well from two Super Bowls ago when he teed off on Kansas CIty's defense for 7 catches and 100 yards.

If Brown is out or at least unable to go at full strength, the Eagles may have to adjust their game plan, relying more on A.J. Brown, tight end Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley to compensate.

The good news for Philly is that there's more than one week until the Super Bowl so the present injury reports really shouldn't be too concerning as long as Smith believes he's getting the rest he needs to be ready when the time comes. But it's certainly a situation to monitor given his role as one of the single biggest playmakers to play in Super Bowl LIX.
