Arguably the biggest move of free agency so far was the Kansas City Chiefs agreeing to terms on a three-year deal with Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker. The Chiefs have basically ignored adding real help to their running back room since Patrick Mahomes has been the quarterback but Brett Veach drove the car in a different direction this offseason.
Perhaps that's because the Chiefs are coming off their first losing season in over a decade or that Mahomes will be returning from his first major injury but no matter what the reasoning was, Walker is now a Chief and fans are pumped about it. How do Seahawks fans feel about the move though?
Lee Vowell of 12th Man Rising, FanSided's Seahawks site, was asked how he felt Walker fit with the Chiefs and he loved the pairing.
"Walker is probably a better fit for KC. He is a good receiver, but was underused that way. I can see him having 1,500 total yards with the Chiefs."
Seahawks expert gives Chiefs fans another reason to be excited about Kenneth Walker
As Vowell noted, Walker didn't get to show off his pass-catching skills much during his time in Seattle but even then, he still did all right in that department. Walker finished the 2025 season with 31 catches for 282 yards while averaging 9.1 yards per reception. That's still pretty dang good for not being utilized there much.
The Chiefs will certainly give Walker more reps as a pass-catcher and no one will be surprised to see Mahomes bail out and throw to him when the pocket is collapsing. That's something Mahomes hasn't been able to do with his running backs much in recent years but Walker will hopefully change that and give Mahomes that added insurance.
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Walker joining the Chiefs but knowing that Mahomes will have a running back capable of making plays on the ground and through the air is definitely up there. Here's to hoping the Chiefs can utilize him in the one way Seattle didn't and reap the benefits.
