The Kansas City Chiefs once spent a second-round pick on Rashee Rice hoping that he'd be their next superstar at wide receiver. After an exciting rookie season that saw Rice come up just shy of the 1,000-yard receiving mark, Rice was injured early in Year 2 and then underwhelmed in Year 3.

The up and down ride that has been the Rashee Rice experiment paired with his off-the-field drama has certainly made this a make-or-break year for the former SMU star. He's entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract and that means it's officially put up or shut up time for Rice.

Rice recently talked about what his hopes for the future are and he's dreaming big. The Chiefs wideout said that he's wanting to earn the same amount of money that Seahawks star wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba earned this offseason. Rice also said that he wants to spend his entire career in Kansas City.

Rashee Rice just raised stakes for Chiefs with bold expectations

Of course, Rice wants to earn JSN money. Everyone wants to be in that boat. Rice surely knows that his performance has to mirror Smith-Njigba's if he's going to get paid that handsomely and posted on X that he's setting the bar high.

As for the part where he wants to spend his entire career in K.C., that's a nice thought if he ends up being a good player. The Chiefs simply haven't seen enough from Rice to merit giving him a new contract though and that means it's time for Rice to prove himself and ball out during his contract year in 2026.

If Rice plays well in 2026 and stays out of trouble, then perhaps there's a chance that he can remain in Kansas City for at least a few more years. As far as getting that JSN money, that probably won't happen in Kansas City and feels unlikely that it'd happen at all. Smith-Njigba has consistently been one of the best receivers in the league since he entered the league in 2023. Rice can't say the same thing.

But hey, dream big, as some might say. If Rice can make this happen, then good for him. It'd mean he put on a great performance for the Chiefs in 2026 and that would only mean good things for the Chiefs offense.
