Raiders vs Chiefs inactives: D.J. Humphries among players sitting out Week 13
By Matt Conner
For those wanting to get their first glimpse at the Kansas City Chiefs' newest roster addition, you're going to find a bit of patience. Just because the Chiefs went shopping around Black Friday doesn't mean they're ready to open the present of D.J. Humphries just yet.
The Chiefs officially inked Humphries to a one-year deal in the past week in order to shore up play at the left tackle position and provide some more security to the shakiest spot up front. However, given his recent arrival and his need to ingratiate himself into the organization a bit more, the Chiefs might be reticent to play him so soon despite his wealth of experience.
That means that, for now, the Chiefs will be rolling with Wanya Morris for another week as the starting left tackle up front. Together with right tackle Jawaan Taylor, the Raiders' pass rush is likely to give K.C. fits up front with talents like Maxx Crosby doing their best to salvage meaning from another lost season.
Sitting behind Morris will be rookie tackle Kingsley Suamataia, the Chiefs' second-round pick, given that rookie free agent Ethan Driskell is also inactive on Friday.
For the Chiefs' Week 13 matchup against the visiting Raiders, the Black Friday broadcast schedule created a bit of a conundrum in terms of injuries and player availability for both teams. For the Chiefs, the short week meant keeping out running back Isiah Pacheco and pass rusher Charles Omenihu a week ago in what turned out to be a close win over Carolina. Fortunately they're playing on Friday against the Raiders.
