Given that the 2024 NFL Draft is still technically going on, nothing is officially set in stone for any rookie who has been drafted in either the first round or the seventh. It takes time for papers to be filed and contracts to be signed and that means Xavier Worthy is likely still without an official contract structure.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft at No. 28 overall after swapping slots with the Buffalo Bills.

Worthy came into the draft as the fastest overall player in the entire class, having broken the 40-yard dash record at the 2024 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Worthy broke John Ross's record of 4.22 seconds with a 4.21-second time of his own. With that performance, he turned a lot of heads, Worthy's lanky frame and questions about his long-term durability kept him from being taken much higher.

Worthy's presence along with the addition of free agent Hollywood Brown creates very real vertical issues for opposing defenses—something that the Chiefs lacked a year ago when the receiving room was adding to the team's list of concerns more than it was answering them.

At No. 28 overall, NFL rookie deals are slotted according to the collective bargaining agreement agreed upon back in 2020. That means, per Spotrac, that Worthy is expected to make $13.8 million total over the next four years from the Chiefs. That contract includes $6.8 million in signing bonuses, and the Chiefs get the choice of a 5th-year option as well.
