With the 28th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Xavier Worthy out of Texas. They moved up four spots to snag the Longhorns wide receiver and hope the move was worth it.

aWell, during OTAs, Worthy became an observer rather than a participant, sitting out due to an injury he sustained. This, of course, could worry Chiefs Kingdom since the team spent a first-round pick on the guy and he's already gotten dinged up.

Xavier Worthy has stayed relatively healthy and productive during his college stint at Texas, so he deserves the benefit of the doubt going forward.

The good news is that Worthy was not injury-prone during his time in Texas. According to Draft Sharks, in 2022, Worthy suffered a finger fracture that he ended up playing with through half of the season. In 2023, he had an ankle sprain and dealt with it through the College Football Playoffs. That sums up his injury history over the last several years.

Worthy had over 1,000 yards receiving and five touchdowns in 14 games with the Longhorns in 2023 and the Chiefs are hoping that he brings that kind of production to Kansas City. We saw how frustrated Patrick Mahomes was with his receivers last year so the hope in adding both Worthy and Marquise Brown is that he can have some more reliable pass-catchers that won't stall the offense.

It's always worrisome when key players get nicked up anytime but based on Worthy's previous injury, it appears that Chiefs fans don't have much to worry about.
