The Kansas City Chiefs will take to the road in Week 2 for the first time this season. Their opponents will be the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are coming off of a solid win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 and hoping to reverse their fortunes from last winter.
While it won't completely make up for losing to the Chiefs in the postseason a year ago, a win on Sunday afternoon over Kansas City would go a long way toward feeling much better about their competitive chances. The Chiefs ousted the Jags in the Divisional Round last January on their way to a second Super Bowl win in four years.
The Chiefs won the last battle by seven points—27 to 20—but Jacksonville has to feel good about the growth for major players like Trevor Lawrence with even more experience under his belt. The team also gave Lawrence a new top target in Calvin Ridley to elevate the offense to new heights—a must for any team that wants to get the best of Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs, however, will be laser-focused on Sunday knowing that falling behind against Jacksonville could lead to them going 0-2 to start the season in a year where the front part of the schedule is supposed to be the easier stretch. The Chiefs lost to Detroit in the season-opening game, but are coming off of a mini-bye and should be ready for the challenge.
The Chiefs and Jaguars will kick off their game for Week 2 at 12:00 p.m. C.T. at EverBank Stadium.
