Welcome to the sweet spot of the 2024 NFL Draft.

While the first round was full of college football's most popular players, many of whom will face massive expectations as their team's first-round selections from Thursday night, the truth is that most franchises rise and fall on how they perform on day two of a particular draft—and this class is loaded.

Day two presents the opportunities to land several key contributors and potential impact players on both sides of the ball, but it's also the part where scouting becomes even more important because the players take on greater risks. Which chances are worth taking? Which risks are worth avoiding? How much should character concerns come into play? How should a team balance projection and production?

For the Chiefs, these two rounds have proven bountiful for the roster over time and this year should be no different. From Nick Bolton to Creed Humphrey to Leo Chenal to Bryan Cook to Rashee Rice to Wanya Morris, the roster has plenty of important players who were all selected in the second and third rounds overall.

For those wanting to tune in, the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft begins on Friday, April 26, at 7:00 p.m. E.T. (or 6:00 p.m. C.T.)—one hour earlier than the first round on Thursday. That's likely due to having two full rounds to get through instead of just one. However, the time limit between picks is lowered from 10 to 7, so a round should not take as long.
