Way too early 2025 Mock Draft: KC Chiefs lay a strong defensive foundation
By Price Carter
Round 2: Cobee Bryant, CB, Kansas
Bryant will be a fifth-year senior this year for the Jayhawks, and ball production has been his calling card to this point.
With 9 career interceptions and 15 passes defended, Bryant is an impact corner. His size will be something to watch since he's listed at 6'1", 170 lbs., but time will tell what he actually plays at. Bryant might be limited to the slot at the next level, but the ball production and the ability to score once he has the ball compares to part of what made Emmanuel Forbes a 1st round pick in 2023.
The Chiefs had incredible luck finding four starting defensive backs in the 2022 draft: Jaylen Watson, Joshua Williams, Bryan Cook, and Trent McDuffie. However, the drawback of getting that much talent in one wave is they all will hit free agency at the same time. The Chiefs have been continually investing in the position each year since with Nic Jones and Kamal Hadden. Bryant is another investment who brings something different to the table with agility and ball production.
