Watch Patrick Mahomes and Kadarius Toney toy with Chiefs defense on wild trick play

If that sounds like a bit much, it is.

Four passes on a single play is a bit much, but we're here for it all the same.

If it sounds like the Kansas City Chiefs are laying it on thick these days, it's because they are. We're also here for every ounce of it.

A team that's already served up consecutive Super Bowl titles is chasing a third on the back of arguably the greatest all-time quarterback who is somehow still only 28 years old. Oh yeah, they also have the best tight end to ever play the game as their top pass catcher, a Mount Rushmore head coach calling the plays, and perhaps the game's most dominant defensive lineman to anchor their pass rush.

As we said, they're laying it on thick.

When a team is used to playing in primetime as often as they are, perhaps it behooves the Chiefs to flex the entertainment factor in public-facing practices. That's about the only reason we can think of for Andy Reid to dial up what our friends at KCSN termed the quadruple pass. on Monday in training camp.

Yeah, that's Patrick Mahomes tossing it across the field to Kadarius Toney who then tosses it back across the field to Mahomes again who—let's catch our breath here—again reciprocates back to Toney who then unloads to rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy down the field for a deep completion.

As we said, it's laying it on thick.

The cheers you hear in the background are exactly what that play was meant for—a moment of levity and fun in front of several thousand fans who drove to St. Joseph to see the team work out (and millions more on social media who they knew would see that recorded play and respond accordingly like us).

Will we ever see that play dialed up during a game? Don't count on it. It's inefficient and risk-laden and outright silly. Wait... okay, so maybe it is possible. After all, the Chiefs are a bit much in everything they do these days.
