Trevor Lawrence is cheering for Justyn Ross's success with Chiefs

As the Kansas City Chiefs gear up for the upcoming NFL season, one player's notable journey has captured the attention of fans and fellow athletes alike. Justyn Ross, the former Clemson standout, has been turning heads during the Chiefs' training camp, and his progress hasn't gone unnoticed by his former Tigers teammate Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence is no longer in a position to throw touchdowns to Ross, as he's now the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he still wants the best for Ross, especially knowing the path he's taken to even keep his professional football dreams alive.
Ross is turning heads these days in Chiefs camp after sitting out all of last year with an injury. When asked about whether or not he'd seen the highlights shared on social media, Lawrence nodded with an affirmative answer and said, "It makes me feel happy for him."
Trevor Lawrence is still rooting for his former teammate Justyn Ross as he progresses with the Chiefs.
"I played with him, I know him really well. We came in together at Clemson. I mean, he's a great player, great player, and just the person he is. He’s got a great work ethic and to see obviously the battles he has had to go through, some of the adversity. It’s cool to see him kind of getting this opportunity and I hope he continues to play well and takes it and runs and the Chiefs use him well — I think they will."
Overcoming a significant injury that kept him off the field for the entire 2020 season, Ross's determination and dedication have been evident throughout his journey back to the field of play. At this point, Ross has dealt with myriad issues from a spinal injury to a fractured foot to a head injury and more. Fortunately, he's been able to finally bounce back with a healthy offseason and preseason (thus far) for the Chiefs.
Lawrence and Ross shared the field as integral components of Clemson's successful football program, and they ultimately won a national championship together. The future might feature the pair playing against each other instead, but you can bet Lawrence will continue to root for Ross all the while.
The Chiefs are set to kick off their preseason campaign, and all eyes will be on Justyn Ross as he aims to solidify his place on the roster. As Lawrence's words of encouragement and belief in Ross ring loud, football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate witnessing Ross's journey from adversity to triumph, all while knowing he has a steadfast ally in his corner.
"It’s been awesome to see from him. Obviously, I have seen that a million times in practice, so I am not surprised at all. But to see him get that opportunity, it makes me happy and I’m just excited for him,” Lawrence continued.
