Travis Kelce gets an SNL cameo on season premiere

Thanks to his new fling with pop superstar Taylor Swift, even SNL couldn't resist having the NFL tight end on the show once again.

Go ahead and count me in with the Kansas City Chiefs fans who are getting tired of the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift romance that is currently enveloping the team more than football is. But alas, it is what it is and you're probably reading this article because I already mentioned both stars.

As we all know by this point, everybody seems to want to get their hand in the views that the relationship is garnering, and Saturday Night Live was no different. Back for a new season after the recently completed writer's strike, one of the skits focused on the ridiculous amount of coverage that Swift and Kelce are getting from networks.

Thanks to his new fling with pop superstar Taylor Swift, even SNL couldn't resist having the NFL tight end on the show once again.

The skit followed the Fox Football Sunday pregame crew as they all tried to discuss the upcoming Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets games. But things quickly went off the rails as the conversation devolved into who was the biggest "Swiftie" on the cast. This was started thanks to a sideline reporter (played by host Pete Davison) who talked about everything except football.

The skit finally ended with "Curt Menefee" announcing they were going to break and when they returned they would hear from someone who really knew about football. This camera quickly cut to none other than Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, cutting a joke as the audience went crazy.

The cameo was surprising, but not entirely shocking. Kelce has been everywhere this offseason, including hosting SNL himself after the Super Bowl win. And ever since his relationship with Swift became public, it has coincided with Kelce being featured in as many commercials as Patrick Mahomes.

It's no surprise that in their season premiere, SNL wanted to get as much star power as possible, even if it was for a five-second cameo. They got it, and I'm sure it's going to break the internet with the sheer amount of Swifties who are going to be clamoring to see the clip.
