For all of the attention paid to which fringe roster players might stay or leave on each given team in the National Football League, it's actually quite a common occurrence to see a team decide against both players competing at a certain spot in favor of bringing in some outside help entirely. In that instance, we'll see a team like the Kansas City Chiefs either pull off a free agent signing after roster cuts are due or they'll pull off a low-level trade.

This year, the Chiefs roster is as deep as it's been in years, which means there are going to be some active roster-worthy players who are on the verge of being released. Instead of losing them for nothing, it'd be nice to see the Chiefs pick up some useful parts with them.

We thought we'd try our hand at some preseason trade ideas for the Chiefs. Most of our efforts are concentrated at getting help along the defensive interior where Chris Jones remains a holdout, Charles Omenihu faces a looming suspension, and Turk Wharton is still trying to get completely healthy from last year's leg injury. Of course, we also have some other thoughts, too.
