The complete Thursday Night Football schedule for the 2024 NFL season

No sport is as successful at generating as much fanfare out of so little substance as American football and specifically the NFL. From taking three days to announce 250 college player's names from notecards to unveiling the full regular season schedule over a multi-hour primetime broadcast, NFL fans soak up anything the league serves up.

That fan fervor also explains how and why the NFL has ventured into Thursday Night Football. What was once a Sunday-only affair has slowly claimed our nightly schedules for nearly half a week during the season—from Mondays to Thursdays and even the occasional Saturday late in the calendar.

Thursday Night Football presents a readiness element that other primetime appearances do not for teams. If teams have to play the previous week (not on a bye), then it automatically means playing on a much shorter week than others—which means less rest and recovery for players who are ailing from playing the previous week.

Last season was also the first year that teams might be forced/allowed to play on Thursday Night Football more than once, and the Kansas City Chiefs were one of the first teams to figure out that wrinkle in the schedule. This year, they're set up to do so once again with their now-annual appearance in the season-opening game and then another scheduled contest weeks later.

Despite the challenges, however, the ratings are huge and players relish primetime playing opportunities so TNF is here to stay on the NFL's schedule. In fact, it's only a matter of time until there's likely a Friday and/or Saturday offering semi-regularly. Anyway, onto this year's TNF schedule.
