The best free agents still available for the Kansas City Chiefs

If the Chiefs want to continue shopping in free agency's second week, there are still plenty of good players remaining.

Running Back

Best Players Still Available: JK Dobbins, Cordarrelle Patterson, Cam Akers, Alexander Mattison, Damien Harris, Boston Scott, Ezekiel Elliott, D'Onta Foreman, Kareem Hunt, Jerick McKinnon, Clyde Edwards-Helaire

The Chiefs desperately need some depth in their running back room, and there are still several interesting options available that shouldn't break the bank to sign.

My favorite option is JK Dobbins. Multiple injuries have derailed his career but that makes him an ideal candidate to sign a one-year "prove-it" deal. What better place to do that than in Kansas City where he'd constantly be in the spotlight? Even if Dobbins never regains his elite upside, he's a quality pass catcher who could help fill the third-down back role vacated by Jerick McKinnon.

Cordarrelle Patterson is another name I like in that McKinnon role. He's another great pass catcher and he comes with return man upside as well and at his age, he may take a cheap deal to chase a Super Bowl. Cam Akers' stock has dropped a lot, but he is someone who could both take some carries between the tackles and play on third down if he would like to rehab his image in K.C.

If the Chiefs wanted to move Isiah Pacheco to more of a third-down role they could also target a back like Damien Harris or Boston Scott. Both have proven to be good short-yardage options and could take some of the abuse of the slighter Pacheco in short-yardage situations. They could do something similar with guys like Ezekiel Elliott or D'Onta Foreman as well, but the cost might be a little higher.

Finally, K.C. could look to reunite with Kareem Hunt, Jerick McKinnon, or Clyde Edwards-Helaire if they were willing to take a veteran minimum deal, but I personally think it may be time for some fresh faces in the running back room.

Now let's look at some wide receivers that are still available.
