The 4 most exciting matchups for the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1

4. L.A. Chargers

It might sound weird to list an AFC West rival here on this list. After all, there's nothing all that exciting about seeing a team you play twice each season and especially for a Chiefs team that's locked up the last E-I-G-H-T division titles.

That said, these Chargers aren't your normal Chargers. Years of Brandon Staley on the sidelines have been replaced by the single best head coaching candidate available on the market this offseason: Jim Harbaugh. Think of the instant respectability that Andy Reid brought to K.C, and envision Harbaugh doing much of the same for a team that's looked better on paper than on the field for the last several seasons.

If the two most important aspects of a team's success are its head coach and quarterback, then the Chargers are on their way somewhere. They're also going to bring a new defensive intensity and a ground game emphasis that will shake up the way the game is played in the AFC West. The Chargers will be learning on the fly in 2024, but they'll be surprising some opponents along the way.
