Ranking every potential primetime game for the Chiefs in 2024 from best to worst
The Kansas City Chiefs are no strangers to primetime games. Gone are the days when the Chiefs would only get one or maybe two primetime showings. They're now a shoo-in to play under the lights in any given week.
Last season, the Chiefs played at noon just three times and one of those noon games was on Christmas Day, so that was considered to be another primetime game. In other words, Chiefs fans should assume that most of their games won't be played at noon and to gear up for some late nights.
As Chiefs fans know, it's tradition for the reigning Super Bowl champions to host the first game of the NFL season so they'll be carrying on this tradition for the second year in a row and hosting the season opener so that's one primetime game right there.
Last year's season opener didn't go according to plan for the Chiefs but it all worked out in the end, as they're right back in the same spot, opening up the NFL season at home because they won the Super Bowl. As we saw last year, the NFL might go in a different direction when picking the Chiefs' opponent, going for an up-and-comer rather than a heavy-hitter.
Many have circled the Houston Texans as a potential team to slot in for this opener since they've joined the ranks as a Super Bowl contender this upcoming season. Two other Super Bowl contenders that could be considered for this game are the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals but the NFL might want to save them for later in the season when the games seem to mean way more.
No matter who the opponent is, the Chiefs will be playing their first game of the season under the bright lights of Arrowhead Stadium. Now we'll shift gears to slotting in the Chiefs' 2024 opponents in tiers based on how likely they are to play K.C. in primetime.
