The Kansas City Chiefs finally got back into the win column last week against the Patriots and will look to sweep the two-game season series from the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas. When these two AFC West rivals played each other in Week 12, the Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 first half lead before the Chiefs scored 31 unanswered points to pick up the win.

The Raiders are coming off a dominant 63-21 win over the Chargers last week, but this will be a tough test for rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell as they head to Arrowhead. The Chiefs are 10-point home favorites over the Raiders ahead of kickoff on Christmas Day.

Raiders vs. Chiefs Key Players to Watch

Las Vegas Raiders

Aidan O’Connell: The rookie quarterback could do no wrong against the Chargers’ defense, as he had 248 passing yards and four touchdowns. It was the best performance we’ve seen from O’Connell and the Raiders’ offense, which scored seven touchdowns. O’Connell will try to carry that momentum from last week’s blowout win into this week’s road game at Arrowhead.

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes: After dropping two straight games to the Packers and Bills, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 27-17 win over the Patriots last week. The reigning league MVP completed 73% of his passes for 305 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Mahomes has thrown an interception in four out of his last five games, which isn’t great. However, the Chiefs are 7-0 this season when Mahomes has completed 70% or more of his passes.

Raiders vs. Chiefs Prediction and Pick

The last time these two teams played each other in Las Vegas, the Raiders jumped out to a quick 14-0 first-half lead before the Chiefs woke up and scored 31 unanswered points. Kansas City’s defense struggled to slow down Josh Jacobs, who had 110 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

However, the Raiders’ defense didn’t have any answers for Mahomes (27/34 for 298 yards, 2 TDs), Isiah Pacheco (55 rushing yards and 2 TDs), and rookie Rashee Rice (eight receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown).

The Chiefs haven’t had Pacheco for the last two games, but they expect to have him back for Christmas. The Raiders’ defense has only allowed 97.7 rushing yards per game in their past three games. It will be up to Kansas City to establish the run to help Mahomes in the passing game, which has been hit-and-miss.

The Raiders are 2-3 ATS as a road underdog and 0-1 ATS when the spread was +8.5 to +11.5 this season. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are 3-3 ATS as a home favorite but a perfect 3-0 ATS when the spread was between -11.5 to -8.5. If Jacobs is sidelined for the second straight week, I don’t see O’Connell being successful against this Kansas City defense.
