Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Running Back

Another very easy call.

Regrettably, CEH's time with Kansas City has been disappointing, as he has not lived up to the expectations the Chiefs had for him. Moreover, Isiah Pacheco has already surpassed him on the depth chart.

It is widely accepted that this season will mark his last with the Chiefs, but the more immediate concern is whether he will remain on the team by Week 1.

Verdict: Going

Tommy Townsend, Punter

Barring Tommy Townsend demanding an exorbitant contract or experiencing a severe decline in performance, it seems highly unlikely that he will be playing for another team in 2024.

Given Townsend's outstanding performance in the 2022 season, earning him the prestigious first-team all-pro recognition, it is undoubtedly in the Chiefs' best interest to secure his services for the foreseeable future.

Verdict: Staying

Willie Gay Jr., Linebacker

In my view, I hold a more reserved outlook on Willie Gay compared to many others in Chiefs Kingdom. While he's undoubtedly a solid player, it appears that he still has more potential than he has become an established force. Unfortunately, his progress since his rookie year in 2020 hasn't been as significant as hoped.

Considering Nick Bolton's emergence as a defensive leader and Leo Chenal's existing contract through 2025, it seems unlikely that the Chiefs will opt to re-sign Willie Gay, especially when I previously projected the return of Drue Tranquill earlier in this article.

Verdict: Going
