On the latest Arrowhead Addict podcast, we debate the question if Chris Jones has taken the mantle from Aaron Donald as the NFL's greatest defensive player.
There's a void to fill in the National Football League this season.
Longtime Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald called it a career earlier this offseason, with a retirement announcement shortly around the start of the new league year. With the decision to leave the game behind, Donald capped a career bound for Canton, Ohio—a future enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and a likely place on the Mount Rushmore of the game's greatest defensive players ever.
With his departure, the question will be asked, 'Who will take his place as the league's greatest defender?" Is it possible for another position to grab it, such as a defensive back like Sauce Gardner? What about pass rusher Micah Parsons or T.J. Watt? While the debate will rage, there's no reason not to include Chris Jones in that mix, since the Chiefs defensive tackle is a potential HOF candidate himself taking over as the best interior player in the game.
On this episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast, Adam Best and Sterling Holmes break down the debate and put forth the notion that the Chiefs might have the best player on both sides of the ball.
