The offseason crossover that nobody knew they needed is almost here. Capital One's The Match returns on Thursday, June 29th with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors facing off against Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Curry and Thompson became one of the most threatening pairs on hardwood in 2012, and have since won four NBA titles together. Their electrifying abilities from three-point range earned them the tandem nickname of The Splash Brothers. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have emerged as the NFL's own splash brothers with their unmatched connection in the Chiefs' passing game.

This battle of cross-sport dynamic duos is sure to be a good time for fans. You can find all there is to know about Thursday's action right here!

What is the format of The Match?

This year's iteration of The Match will follow the same format as those of yesteryear with a 12-hole scramble set to unfold. Each player will tee off and teams will choose the better of their two results to shoot from next. The same rules apply to each subsequent shot throughout the match. A scramble is a fun, competitive way to introduce strategy to the game and it allows for some teamwork to come into play. With the well-known chemistry between these two sets of teammates on their usual playing surfaces, the scramble format should make for some top-notch, entertaining commentary on the course.

What is The Match being played for?

Beyond the competitive nature of the event, The Match has always been a driver for charity. Since its inception in 2018—featuring a duel between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson—promotion of The Match has raised $35 million for charitable foundations.

Curry, Thompson, Mahomes, and Kelce will be playing for a joint charity, The No Kid Hungry campaign, with all proceeds headed there. Additionally, holes 4, 6, and are special "challenge holes" on which $2 million extra will be donated in a team's name should they hit a hole-in-one. Hole 12 is also a "challenge hole" but the donation for an ace is bumped up to $5 million.

How to watch The Match with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce

The Match will air on Thursday, June 29th at 6:30 PM Eastern time on TNT, and will be played at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Steph Curry and Patrick Mahomes each boast impressive handicaps and regularly play in ProAm and charity events during their offseason. Kelce and Thompson are reportedly lesser talented golfers but are sure to fulfill the Robin role in relation to their partner's Batman. Thursday's match should be an absolute blast to watch, and will be a great opportunity for Chiefs Kingdom to see a different side of their team's biggest stars!
