Update: Rashee Rice has been officially designated as "out" for the rest of the game.

The Kansas City Chiefs have to be frustrated with the way their road trip to Los Angeles has started in their Week 4 game against the Chargers. Not only has the team already turned the ball over twice on their first two possessions, but the team has also lost wide receiver Rashee Rice, their top playmaker, to an early injury.

Rice went down in the first quarter with a knee injury after an insane play in which Patrick Mahomes not only threw an interception to Chargers defensive back Kristian Fulton but then ended up accidentally injuring Rice when attempting to tackle Fulton who was running the ball back.

You can check out Mahomes' attempt to tackle Fulton here and the impact it had on Rice's right leg.

Rice is on the sideline at this point, and as of press time, sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson has noted that Rice has been unable to put any weight on that right leg. Rice was then taken back via medical cart to the Chiefs' locker room for further treatment.

The Chiefs have leaned on Rice to be the new torchbearer for the offense through three games this season in his second year with the team. Rice already has 24 catches for 288 receiving yards through three games this season along with 2 touchdowns and he stands among the league leaders in receptions, targets, and total yards.

Rice was the second-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft out of SMU and put up one of the best rookie seasons ever by a Chiefs wideout with 79 catches for 938 yards and 7 scores.
